Prof. Shaheen Ahmed

 

Professor Shaheen Ahmed is an academician and an administrator. Professor Ahmed retired as a Principal of Govt. College of Home Economics on July 2007. She was also the Vice Principal and the Chairman of the Department of Food and Nutrition in the same institution. After her retirement, she served as a Principal in Bangladesh International School (BIS), D.O.H.S. Mohakhali, Dhaka for three years from 2007 to 2010. Selected by the P.S.C., her first appointment as lecturer was in Khulna Govt. Girl’s College in November 1972. Later she served in several institutions like Eden Girls College and Badrunnesa Girl’s College. During her long years of teaching, she published books on Food and Nutrition, Advanced Nutrition, ParibarikRanna O PushtiKotha, Child Growth, Development and Guidance and Favorite Tales from Bangladesh. Besides teaching, Prof. Ahmed had undertaken research projects funded by BINP, NNC, WHO and several of her research articles were published in both national and international journals. She received her Bachelors and Masters degree from the College of Home Economics. She was awarded gold medal for securing 1st position in Home Economics group under Dhaka Board in 1967 and “credit” by Dhaka University for securing outstanding marks in B.Sc. exam. She was awarded P.E.O. International scholarship and secured masters in education from University of Hartford, Connecticut U.S.A. in 1978. Prof. Ahmed looks forward to contributing to the enrichment of educational sector in Bangladesh and to serve in institutions dedicated to the improvement of learning of young minds.
